The Visitor Center is one of the Must See places in Covington, aka Mystic Falls, Virginia. Not only is the outside of the building lined up with a beautiful place to stop and have a quick picnic, but it also holds some of the greatest film facts and items to be seen. As a matter of fact, they have a paper map guide that will help you to find the different locations of the different films and TV shows filmed there. The staff is very friendly and is always able to help you find a set location if you just can't seem to find it yourself. They also sell The Vampire Diaries merchandise, such as posters and post cards. There's even a picture you can spot of Damon holding up a Covington T-shirt.
In the back corner of the visitor center, you will also find a Vampire Diaries section all to itself. You'll be able to find Director chairs from Season I & III, along with a signed poster and cut out Damon.
The Visitor Center would be a great place to park and walk while visiting the different set locations around the Square and the homes, including the Witches Burial Grounds and The Mystic Falls Cemetery. It is in the perfect walking distance of all these sets. However they're only open Mon-Fri 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm, though you should still be able to park there after hours. If you'd like to call them for any questions their phone number is 770-787-3868.

The Historic Covington Square itself is a great place to walk around and enjoy. Not only is it a beautiful place, it is also filled with great shops to check out. Anywhere from furniture, to clothes, to antiques. Not to add the coffee shops and cafe's! If you do decide to check out the different shops, be sure to keep any eye out for any Vampire Diaries merchandise! You never know what you may be able to find.
Not only will you be able to find different merchandise, you may be able to ask some of the store clerks about the filming that goes on in the town. Who knows what you'll find out, perhaps some spoilers for an upcoming episode!
As you walk around the square you'll notice a shop called "Scoops". This is the place that the actors and film crew stop to get some ice cream or smoothies in between filming. I've gotten ice cream there twice and it was well worth it! They sell anything from cold refreshing drinks, to ice cream and smoothies that will make your mouth explode with flavor, to Oreo covered apples, or to candy! Whatever you decided to get here, I can promise you'll leave with a mouthful of yum!
If you're looking for some good food, then Bradley's Bar-B-Que is the place to be! It's located in walking distance from Scoops on Church Street. They have some of the most amazing Bar-B-Que I've had in a long time! Not to add, the price is amazing for the amount of food you get! I had meat pouring off my sandwich they packed it so full! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a great flavor to spark up their taste buds!
